Hello This is my new blog, where I can hopefully show you my development as an artist. This first post shows my attempt at completing a more illustrative piece of my characters. In the past at University I focused on individual characters both 2D and 3D, I was happy with my progress in character design projects, but want to start doing more overall conceptual pieces and illustrative pieces with characters.

The first step is too create many thumbnails! even if you have a specific image in mind it is important to explore more possibilities incase you find a more suitable composition. I have recently learned a lot from Kienan Lafferty (check his youtube!) and several books from James Gurney, so check them out if you want to learn some new ideas and approaches.
Second step is to refine the thumbnails you like until you have a sketch and some ideas for the overall tones, i will test some color next!
